Book
reviews
have
long been an (irregular) offering of the
Zero Anthropology Magazine. Unlike the
typical book review, which in academic journals
is usually no longer than 750 words, and is thus
forced to provide only a superficial overview of
a book—our reviews are highly detailed
breakdowns of the contents of any given book.
Readers are thus already able to begin learning
from a book, by reading our review. As a result
of the dense concentration of information in our
book reviews, whatever opinions we have to offer
of a book usually stand out as abundantly
justified and not unfair. Given the special
nature of our reviews, the
Zero Anthropology Magazine is sought out by
a number of book publishers and authors who
provide copies of books in return for the
promise of a review. Book reviews are not as
frequent or as numerous as documentary film
reviews, since it takes substantially longer to
review any given book. As of the date of the
last time this page was edited, no reviews of
special issues of journals have been
published—they are coming soon. The date of the last edit here was
